4000 BC
Today, I ascended the throne of the England. I vow to lead the people in the way of justice and righteousness.
We had amongst us two bands of settlers, two camps of laborers and a small band of explorers.
In the center of our small realm stands a lonely mountain, filled with ore, and surrounded by grasslands and desert and a few patches of forest.
It is said that the divine one swooped through the heavens struck the lonely mountain with a mighty blast of thunder and a bolt of lightning. Attracting the lightning, the ore heated and expanded into a great molten mass, spewing forth from within the core of the lonely mountain. Pouring down the hill and gathering momentum, the liquid ore seared as it was exposed to the cool air, and took the form of Englishmen, running down the mountain onto the great plane. The echo of the thunder slowly transitioned into the roaring cry of Englishmen emerging unto the world. They say it is the flash of lightning smashing the ore upon the face of the lonely mountain, which is the brilliant steel in an Englishman's eyes.
I climbed amongst a group of settlers and a band of workers to the top of the lonely mountain. The mountain shall be our city fortress and I shall govern from here, watching over the great expanse below out to the sea.
The work party has prepared implements for mining so that we may partake in the gift of ore from our mother, the mountain.
Scouts have informed me that one part of the forest contains mulberry trees with an abundance of silk worms. I suspect that the silk will make for lucrative trade opportunities as our new city grows prosperous.
In a grassland to the north of the lonely mountain, a river begins flowing north toward the northern sea. I have sent a group of settlers to follow the river to the sea and found a coastal city if they find good land.
Our explorers took a passage east along the northern coast. They traversed a short river and came toward some hills and mountains. There appear to be abundant fish in the coastal waters. I sent a band of workers to follow the explorer and examine the hills and mountains with more detail. I hope to find a mountain of gold, which would be a great blessing for our people. There have been reports of some fine hill country suited to grapes.
We have had no contact with any other peoples.
