New player - new game

Hi all I have just joined this community, and would like to know what to do to join a game. Could I join LT 10 or should I wait for LT 11. My current klient is Vers. 2.1.2. The good thing about waiting for LT11 would be that I would be more routined and I could probably talk a friend into this community in the waiting time.

I am new to FreeCiv but played a lot of Civ1 in the nineties.

Hi, welcome! :)

First of all: at the moment all longturn servers use version 2.0.x, you'll need to install this one as well (slightly older version than the 2.1.x series). At the moment there's a discussion about using 2.1.x for longturn, but there may still be stability issues.

A good place to start could be to join the LTeX server, it allows new players to join any time without a waiting list (http://www.longturn.org/ltex-r...). At the moment the LTeX server is down for maintainance, but I think it should be up again in a few days.

Getting a place in LT10 will probably be difficult, the game is in an advanced phase. But you could join the idler-replacement list (http://www.longturn.org/lt10-t...), so you could get an account when it's owner becomes idle.

LT11 may take a little while to start, but I don't think it will be too long. Maybe 3-4 weeks (I'm guessing)? If you have enough patience then I'd advise to subscribe to the LT11 player list as soon as it's opened.
