Very Ancient History

As this world is an archipelago, most civilisations came into contact with eachother in an early stage of the game. An exception to this was Marduk of the Dutch, who was alone on his desert continent and therefore had to concentrate on overseas colonisation. Other players could quickly create alliances and share technologies. Or fight an early war, as the Swedish vs the Catalans and Germans did.

Early alliances

In this stage the first big alliances came into being.

This includes the Southern Alliance of the Arabs, Romans, Lithuanians and Mongolians, and the Northern Alliance of the Catalans, Dutch and Germans.

Third alliance was Eastern League of Serbia, Spain, Japan and Silesia.

Fourth alliance of the west included Sweden and Poland. This alliance joined to Eastern League very early (but Swedes told that they will join, but have never signed alliance pact, which triggered lot of troubles later)

Age of Barbarians

The most threatening factor in the early stages of the game were the waves of barbarians who constantly threatened nearly all players. Especially the Aztecs were hit hard by barbarians, as they were brought to near elimination by them. The Welsh and Dutch also suffered much from barbarians, as they kept attacking and conquering several cities at the same time for long periods.

First signs of conflict

Barbarians also played a role in creating the first serious diplomatic conflicts in the game. After a diplomatic crisis between the Dutch and Spanish, over a city alledgedly located on Spanish territory, the Spanish conquered a Dutch city which was temporarily held by barbarians. As neither side was willing to compromise, a cold war took shape between the Northern Alliance on one side and the Spanish and their allies on the other side.

The First World War

After a long status quo the cold war was aggrevated by another conflict. This time the Serbs took two Dutch cities on his home continent which were held by barbarians. Threats of war were quickly followed by actual declarations of war, and one by one the members of the Northern Alliance and the allies of the Serbs and Spanish were drawn into the conflict. The Serbs gradually advanced on the Dutch home continent, taking some cities and destroying others, while the Spanish quickly took about half of the Dutch colonies on the Eastern peninsula of the Arctic continent. As the Dutch were still in the process of industrialisation, they could only fight a defensive war with riflemen and some submarines. To assist his besieged ally, Thungar of the Chileans (who had joined the Northern alliance only shortly before the war) did some counterattacks on the Serbs and Spanish. At the same time he had to defend himself against invasion armies of the Japanese, an ally of the Serbs/Spanish.
At the point when about half of the Dutch cities had fallen, the situation seemed to stabilise somewhat. Some peace talks took place, but this had no positive results. Before the peace talks were concluded a strong offensive of Publos of the Silesians, another ally of the Serbs/Spanish, caused much of the remaining Dutch colonies on the two peninsulas of the Arctic continent to fall. The Serbs recontinued their offensive, and soon the Dutch capital was lost. Once the last Arctic continent, which was the new Dutch capital, had also fallen, a tiny Dutch city-state of 2 core cities remained. Thungar of the Chileans now had to defend himself against 3 strong enemies.

End of Catalans and End of Polish - Arguement in alliance

Polish attacked the weak Catalans, and took 2 their cities. The remaining 3 cities was captured by Swedes.

Swedes and Polish, who were in alliance from very beginning of game, long time ago joined to alliance of Spanish,Serbs etc... , but Sweded never signed that alliance officialy. When Swedes became bigger and stronger, started to forgot that he agreed to join the alliance, and treated Polish as his only ally. He started to make plans of invasion to rest of the world. Polish who knew about that plans, tried to stop him by declaring war and making sudden attack on capital. They hoped that Sweden will split to 2 or more provinces, and world-wide danger will be delayed.

Unfortunately that plan failed, and Swedish did revenge in next round. Result of revenge was disastrous: Polish who was medium size world player, became two-city small province, and will be in history books soon.

Southern Continent
Homeland of four civilizations that now are united under the (informal) name of "Southern Alliance". They are, from east to west: Arabs, Lithuanians, Mongols and Romans.

To the west of the Roman region, there is a glacier which divides them from England (that is actually located to the south).

There is also a Catalan city in the northern Mongol region.

England
Homeland of the English, it is located to the south of the Roman region, and linked to it by a glacier to its west.

The natives occupy the north of this land, while the Romans own some cities to their south.

The Quadrand Islands
Currently settled by the Japanese, these group of islands lacted in the center of the earth consist of four islands, each located in it own quadrand. The largest island, New Hampshire, is located in the western quadrand and has beautiful beaches and scenic hills. The southern quandrant contains the island of Texas. It's diverse climate is desserty in the west and lush in the east. The eastern quadrand contains the island of Masachusettes and was the last of the quadrand islands to be completely settled by the Japanese. The north quadrant contains the island of Colorado.

Northern Continents
To the north of the Southern Continent lies a group of continents which can be called the Northern continent (duh :P). From West to East these are: the enormous Catalan/Swedish/German continent, with a smaller island next to it; the Dutch continent, with a large desert in it's southern half; the Silesian/Dutch/Welsh Arctic continent, with 2 large peninsula's; and the large Chilean/Carthagenian continent.
