LteX 2.2 is coming

I have successfully merged code of 2.2.1 (spent almost full 3 days on it).

So I will revive LTeX in days. But there is a problem with using old ruleset and savegame.

Does anybody know how to use old ruleset and savegame with new 2.2 freeciv?

Or maybe should we start from very scratch - with vanilla ruleset, settings etc...?

missing goodies

forgot to say this:

some goodies are only available in trunk; so there will be no variable city radii in 2.2.x and also the tech upkeep is missing ... :(

If someone wants to help me

If someone wants to help me speedup game, please do either:
1. change default 2.2 ruleset to 3x movement,
2. port lt19 ruleset to 2.2

I will do it myself, but don't know how long will it take to me.

Freeciv 2.2.1

Good news that this will be coming soon. I look forward to playing. I hope we can keep as much of the existing ruleset as possible without having to revote everything. And hopefully we can playtest some of the new options as well.

does eX stop meaning

does eX stop meaning eXperimental?

No, it doesn't.

But I prefer continue ltex2.1 ruleset rather than creating one from scratch. Especially if it's easier to convert 2.1=>2.2 than multiply all moves, visions, foodboxes in vanilla ruleset ....;).

It's lot of job we all did during last years, it would be a pity to waste it only because new version came ;)

ruleset

you could create a diff between the old ltex ruleset and a vanilla 2.1 ruleset and try to apply the diff to the 2.2 ruleset. But if you are doing an experimental game perhaps the experimental ruleset could be used? (only in the devel branch but should work for 2.2.1; see docs/README.ruleset_experimental). It has some interesting new rules ... (variable city radii!)

If you want to use the old savegame you have to port the old ruleset first. The savegame should load without problems.

does eX stop meaning eXperimental?
Start a game for eXperiment if we can start playing LT games in 2.2 code
We need at least x3 ruleset, because game will be boring in vanilla rulesets.
After restarting we will think what we need, test it and implement if possible.

what about ruleset?

Awesome, I'm in too! But

Awesome, I'm in too!

But yea I hope you can apply the longturn ruleset/patches, or at least the most important ones (like 3x movement). Since I didn't play the last LTeX, sure let's discard the old savegame :)

Please dont do it to us. It will be so boring like last time, i remember only first 15 turns, that was terrible.
